NOW OFFERING CUSTOM FISHING TRIPS ON WEEKDAYS! In addition to the many natural wrecks off the Maryland coast, the Ocean City Reef Foundation has placed ships, barges, tanks, concrete ruble fields, cable piles, and a WWII submarine all over the nearshore waters of Ocean City, MD.
Once on the bottom, these artificial reefs provide a permanent home to many marine plants and animals as well as becoming an in-season "stop-over" for migrating gamefish. The most popular targets for wreck fishermen include flounder, seabass and tautog. But, when fishing structure, variety is the name of the game, and anything is possible.
Local nearshore fish: sea bass, tautog, bluefish, triggerfish, jacks, blowfish, spadefish, trout, croaker, sharks, porgies, flounder, mackerel, and pollock.
